Our final piece lasted a lot longer, had a synchronized soundtrack to what was happening on screen as well as a relevant voice-over to what was happening on screen which made the film fit together really well.

Also from watching other peoples production logos we realised that ours needed to be much better so we scrapped our original idea and started again. scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Lewis Bird Max Bromley'/>
opening sequence

Our opening sequence will start with a long shot of the two main characters running out of a shop (probably the corner shop in Newmarket), this will be a long shot with the two characters running towards the camera then it will go to a tracking shot following them running, after it will probably switch to a long/match on action shot of one of them falling over and a close up of a reaction such as a smile etc. The next part we will record will be the quick shots over the voice over of one of us stealing, taking drugs and fighting so a quick medium shot of putting something in my coat and then a close up shot from under a glass table snorting a line of sherbet. The fighting short shot will be a sped up shot of a quick punch or headbutt. the next scene will be based in one of our houses probably a summerhouse and the state of the summerhouse will be very untidy and in a bad state with a few of us sitting round taking drugs and will still have a voice over at points with the music playing showing the amount that we do and to show how our lives are fading away then one point the music stops and a close up of one of us about to take a line but stays still staring until he throws it away and leaves then the title comes up.

Animatic

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v13.nonxt4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Db8c0f5e9b5fbc482%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1329871541%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D72D06FFB33F8D87967AD1444F977C04F96535163.78EA63552DC5D7664500F26258C19D8C120F8E39%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Db8c0f5e9b5fbc482%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DUwcA86LXjVBSwI2se52JhA9H8SY&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

This is our group animatic for our opening sequence of a British Social Realism which involves two best mates who live for the weekend who do three things in life drugs, steal, fights. gone with the idea of 'drug addiction' and two friends life, of how one wants to leave the drug cycle as his life is spiraling into a black hole which he cant get out of unless he gives up the drugs. One friend loves his life at the moment but the other one wants out the only way he can is go against his life and friend. Our idea has originated from Social realism dramas such as trainspotting and rise of the footsoldier.

Room for Romeo Brass Analysis

The film 'A Room For Romeo Brass' was released in 1999 and directed by Shane Meadows. It is a social realist drama that won awards for best british film, best director and best british screenplay. It follows the young Romeo and his best friend Gavin, as they undergo a tumultuous period in their childhood. After saving them from a beating by some local youths, the enigmatic Morell befriends the two boys and takes a liking to Romeo's older sister, Ladine Brass. However when Gavin plays a practical joke on Morell to make him look foolish in front of Ladine things turn sour for the pair. In retaliation Morell attempts to drive a wedge between the two best friends in order to keep them apart and thus ensure that he stays close to Romeo and Ladine. But when Ladine rejects Morell's advances he becomes increasingly violent towards Romeo and Gavin, leaving it up to Romeo's absentee father, Joe, to save the day.

The sequence opens with Romeo and Gavin walking through the countryside but the pair have to rest because of Gavin's bad back. They then continue to walk until they come to the local chip shop where romeo has been sent to get dinner for the family.
The camera shots are fairly slow giving each character a lot of screentime. The camera shots start with an establishing shot showing the boys in a field. Then the camera zooms in to a mid shot to show the two boys talking. The opening sequence is accompanied by a soundtrack,"A Message to You Rudy" by The Specials. This gives to opening scene a light hearted atmospere. I think this is to show contrast from the start of the film to what happens later on. The music continues to point where romeo gets home and gets told off for eating everyones food. This intensifies the mood of the scene. This is example of social realism as this is a real life situation.
<img width='1' height='1' the opening sequence of football factory, I will look at the different micro elements and try and establish how they are used to set up character, narrative and genre.

The music to start off with is Primal Scream – swastika eyes quite a drum and bass/indie type music that would be used in this term to build up as if they were ‘buzzing’ a build up towards a bigger scene, this also represents the characters and what there about as we can tell a meet or arranged fight.
The mise en scene is one of the most important factors I feel as its all about reputation and from the costumes the characters are all wearing ‘fighting’ related costumes such as stone island and duffle coats, as well as the cockney accent and large groups preparing for a meet. You can tell from the location of tottenham hotspur football club with surrounding police. All of this gives off this build up with a tense dialogue and military type actions lead to this big meet.
The camerawork on the opening sequence starts with a small establishing shot with a few characters, then it switch’s to sharp switching group shots with a lot of tracking shots to show the readiness of them getting to the meet. There are a lot of group shots to represent the ‘firm’ aspect.
The editing of football factory is sharp gritty edit to represent the characters emotions, however t slows down on the monologue sequence and shows Danny Dyer’s thoughts on life but speeds back up and gets hit to show there overall life and what they live for, fighting.

So overall it’s sequence that wants to show urban fighting and show the brutal side to football but still have this bond n firms.

Lewis Bird
<img
